I am classically trained achieving DIP LCM in piano and keyboards. I had piano and electronic lessons in my youth achieving many piano Grades including 8. This lead me to play for many organ society concerts over many years. I would be asked as an accomplished concert organist to play a 2 hour concert to organ enthusiasts. I was able to attend many organ festivals too in this country and in Spain. I was featured on local radio and on the Organist Entertains programme on Radio 2.
In 1982 I began 4 very successful years as organist playing at numerous hotels in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham for summer seasons entertaining the holiday makers. I would play for dancing, singsongs and background music. In the mid 1980s-1990 I was able to work overseas with my music playing the piano in several countries in Europe in 5 Star hotels as cocktail pianist and vocals.
I had a residency at The Webbington Hotel near Axbridge in the late 1980s. I began to play for lots of wedding receptions and some of the dances at the hotel when they had functions on. Since then I have taken my keyboard and played at many hotels in the UK from Cheltenham to Bournemouth and South Wales and the Forest of Dean. I have my own keyboard if the venue doesn’t have a piano. I have played locally for private parties and functions in Street, Bridgwater, Shepton Mallet, Castle Cary, Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil to name a few. I was encouraged to start teaching the piano and keyboard. So I became a music teacher in 2001. I started in Street and Glastonbury, Somerton, Castle Cary, Frome, West Pennard, Baltonsborough, Evercreech and Shepton Mallet. I now offer online lessons or in person at my home in Evercreech. I teach all ages and levels and have reasonable rates. I offer exams for those that would like to take them. So I offer music tuition in both piano and keyboard and very much enjoy being a music teacher.
In recent years I was asked to be 2nd organist in the local village. This involved me playing for some services and funerals. That has expanded to me being a freelance organist for other local churches for weddings and funerals. I play at Mendip Crematorium in Shepton Mallet as required for several funeral directors.
